Jesus Heals Ten Lepers

Luke 17:11-14

On His Way to Jerusalem,
Jesus traveled through Galilee
and Samaria,
healing the towns as He went.

And in one village, ten men met Him,
missing their noses and fingers –
toes stubbed
by leprosy – and they didn’t ask for
a make-over or plastic surgery.
They asked for pity –

the kind of compassion you give
to people you care about or feel
bad for, but for
these lepers, no one could bear
to look at their maimed bodies .
No one could go nearer than
a freaked out shout to “Stay away!”

But Jesus saw them.
He saw their flawed faces
and disfigurements. He saw
their desperation and need,
and He said, “Go
show yourselves to the priest.”

By faith, they heeded and obeyed
and received healing on The Way.
